Payroll Officer & Accounts Assistant

We are recruiting for a Payroll Officer & Accounts Assistant for a prestigious company based in a central Ely location. The role of Payroll Officer and Accounts Assistant will predominantly be focusing on the collation and preparation of monthly payroll, you will also be the first point of contact on all queries and matters relating to payroll so will be confident and able to work independently to resolve these issues. Payroll Duties / Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the monthly payroll and associated tasks including processing and issuing P45’s, P60’s, payslips, etc
  • Liaising with HR over staff absences, joiners, leavers, etc
  • Providing staff payroll assistance where required in conjunction with the Accountant
  • Processing of HMRC RTI returns including the end of tax year process in conjunction with the Accountant
  • To provide in conjunction with HR the required information to the Pensions Administrators in connection with the various pension schemes
  • Processing salary sacrifice arrangements

Accounts Duties / Responsibilities

  • Day to day maintenance and control of the Sales Ledger including credit control and processing payments received
  • Day to day maintenance and control of all aspects of the petty cash function
  • Day to day maintenance and control of all aspects of the corporate credit card account in an accurate and responsible manner including collection of expenditure log/receipts from cardholders and posting expenses on to the purchase ledger
  • The maintenance and control of processing staff orders
  • Placing orders and making payments for staff where payment is required by corporate credit card
  • Reconciliation of all bank accounts on a regular basis including posting of nominal ledger payments/receipts
  • Preparation of the weekly Purchase Ledger BACS payment run and raising cheques as necessary
  • Sending out remittances and entering payments including direct debits on purchase/nominal ledger
  • The maintenance and control of all aspects of the foreign currency payment cards in an accurate and responsible manner
  • Collecting petty cash and/or foreign currency from the bank
  • Providing cover for absent accounts staff as and when necessary
  • Performing other duties which may be reasonably requested by the Accountant and other members of senior management

Required experience and skills

  • Experience of working in an accounts or payroll position
  • High attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of payroll systems/processes/pension schemes
  • Ability to multi task and work to set time limits

Location: Ely

Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5:00pm
