Manufacturing and Production Electrical Proposal Engineer

Are you an experienced Proposal Engineer with a mechanical background or are you a mechanical engineer looking to move into a technical proposal orientated role?

As an electrical proposal engineer, you will be an integral part of the sale process, building technical and pricing concepts for client opportunities.

In this position you will be able use your broad engineering background and understanding of materials handling, electrical power requirements, control gear requirements for the equipment offered and knowledge of fabricated structural design.

Your role will be to create project solutions, based on individual client needs, managing each proposal in line with the proposal process. You will manage the process with the sales team.

Duties include:

  • Manage the full proposal process, from start to finish, in line with client’s needs
  • Manage each Proposal in line with the proposal process
  • Manage continuous improvement of internal technical and costing calculations
  • Commercial understanding to prepare technical and commercial proposals, experienced in bid writing, pricing, and tender submissions

Part of this role is to interact with clients and maintain relationships to support the sales team. While this is primarily an office-based role, you will be able to work from home during COVID-19 circumstances, and in future you will be able to travel within the UK and overseas to attend site visits and customer meetings to support the sales team.

We will work closely with you to support improvements to technical and sales processes, from your previous work and expertise. We strive to consistently innovate, bringing the best ideas to our client solutions. It is important you are able to read and understand technical drawings to create new proposals for clients.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • In-depth knowledge of Electrical power and control requirements for medium scale equipment
  • The ability to understand official RFQ
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • AutoCAD 2D proficient /qualified (Autodesk AutoCad 2018)
  • The ability to use RSTAB/RFEM could be beneficial
  • The ability to use Microsoft Project could be beneficial

Additional Information:

Based in Ely, Cambridgeshire

Up to £40,000 per annum

Hours: Flexible, 39 hours per week
